hi! i'm als & this is my blog.

i write about random things.
these days i write pretty sporatically.
sometimes i completely rave about something, like a tv show but sometimes i write pretty serious things.
i write in short phrases, i like the freedom of not having to write in proper punctuation and grammar.
i'm a christian. i also ♥ music, art, photography, movies, tv & books.

hope you enjoy ♥

laneway fest !!!

i bought my laneway fest tix this morning
on my mum's credit card
its so funny
cos she's one of those people who just doesn't get it
so i got up at 9am this morning
and i kept refreshing
and then it told me i was is a waiting line
for 20 mins
even though i was in the site at nine
anyway even after like 5 mins
she'd be like 'are you serious? but its so expensive'
and then at 20 mins
she was like if i have to wait any longer
just stuff it
at that point i got annoyed
but relieved the the pay thing came up.
but she just doesn't get it
sigh.

but very excited for it though
& i feel bad
cos i'm not sure if i was meant to buy good vibration tix this morning for people
because nothing was certain
and i wanted to go the laneway fest more
i mean
i do love the killers (i really do)
but i don't feel worthy,
as in i'm not very up to date with them
i mean i do know a lot of their songs
but its only all the ones that went kinda mainstream
and
my other reasons:
1. FLORENCE + THE MACHINE
2. sarah blasko (not in caps) - but i've always wanted to see her in concert & i have all her albums. i did want to go see her this year when she played with el perro del mar, but i never got around to getting tix. plus it always means dragging jacky along. which means tix are always double the price.
3. its in FOOTSCRAY. like when would anything like this really be in footscray. and i might say i'm quite loyal to footscray, i grew up here and even though i've moved away from here, i end up coming back, thus i totally must go since its on my turf. HAHA. side note: the place they chose is a pretty good choice. very indie & its off the maribrynong river ( i mean the river is disgusting (but so's the yarra) but when it gets darker it would look nice). its like right behind my primary school and i've been to the arts centre a few times. once cos i had one of my violin lessons there, but then that was when i was 7.
so yes.

laneway fest. laneway fest. laneway fest.

maybe i'm just lame

but i find this really funny

my loot came.

my stuff came :)

http://dailybooth.com/alsz/1520890

pretty cool.

its funny cos it came in a box
and since i work in a pharmacy
when we unpack any boxes
there's always an invoice to tick off if everythings there
and shows the cost of everything
well there was an invoice there
which is kinda funny
because
1. it was free
2. even if you're missing something
you wouldn't call then and go
'hey, i'm missing my free lip balm'
thats just being ungrateful.

so yes.

off to study.
first exam tmr.

bring it on!

so excited for the summer!

:)

no more smiley faces.

i just realised
is it me or is emoticon just so over now
like who actually uses the yellow smiley faces
oh, maybe except for msn
cos its automatic
but for everything else
everything used to have an emoticon button
now
its not really around
you can't use it on facebook
myspace neither
except it does have one to say how you're feeling
but myspace is so over anyway
youtube doesn't have it
twitter as well
and there's no emoticon thing in here either
(ie. blogspot)

the only places it seems is msn
and email
but who uses emoticons in emails anymore.

i prefer the non-picture smileys.

promiscuity?

i love it how my lecturer can say promiscuity and receptor in the same sentence
and its normal.

loot.

i don't often think of myself as a lucky person
i mean lucky as in having a lot of luck
and m usual default setting is saying
"oh, i never win anything"
which is actually quite a lie
like the things i 'win' aren't that memorable
thus i think i don't win anything
even though i do
like i once won third prize at a school easter raffle
which was pretty cool

i won like a inner health plus soft toy
< this little guy
its actually pretty cute
but i think the lady gave it to the wrong person
lol

& there's others but i forget

but then right
theres also others that
i'm supposed to win
but get shunned
so does that make me lucky or unlucky?
like for oportos
i was meant to win a ipod shuffle
cos i had a good customer service rating (as in 100% haha)
but then my store closed down
and i never got it
even though my ex-boss kept promising it
sigh
or in high school
how we had that motivational speaker guy
and i was meant to be a volunteer
but i didn't get to
but he said he'll give me some cd anyway
never got my cd
not that i wanted it
but i'm just saying.

but the reason i'm saying this is that i won a palmers pamper pack thing
& i hope i get it
(as in recieve it)
cos if not i think i'l deem myself as being unlucky
since i got my hopes up
but then not get let down
at least if i didn't win it
i wouldn't get let down
f you know what i'm saying?

but the pack is pretty awesome:
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Sulphate Free Body Wash 400ml
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Body Butter 170g
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Dark Chocolate and Peppermint Lip Butter 10g
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Dark Chocolate and Cherry Lip Butter 10g
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Foot Magic 125g
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Hand Cream 60g
Palmer’s Olive Butter Formula Sulphate Free Body Wash 400ml
Palmer’s Olive Butter Formula Body Butter 170g
Palmer’s Olive Butter Formula Hand Cream 60g
Palmer’s Shea Butter Formula Sulphate Free Body Wash 400ml
Palmer’s Shea Butter Formula Body Butter 170g
Palmer’s Shea Butter Formula Hand Cream 60g

sweet, huh?

echidna head.

i'm currently at the library studying
and there's this guy across from me with echidna hair
seriously its SO weird
like you know how when guys spike up their hair
its wider and the base of the hair then it sort comes together as a tip at the top
but this guy, from the base to the top its pretty much the same width
it looks like there's sticks on his head
seriously
i really want to take a photo of it
but i'm scared his friends would see me.
i did try with my webcam
but i was quite suss
& they were staring at me
so instead i tried to draw it on paint
and i'm not lying its is spiked that high
i think even higher than that
(damnit he just left)
i don't think my drawing is very representative
seriously
i don't you can imagine it properly until you see it.
but
if you just took the hair off his head or something
i would had not guessed it was some guys hair
it has WAY too much gel that his hair looks like plastic sticks

ok, i'll get back to studying now.

karen oh!

i'm quite excited for the where the wild things are movie
i know its out in the US
but it doesn't come out here til december

i was sooooo hyped up for it after i saw the trailer
seriously
i watched the trailer practically everyday for that week
(but then my excuse was that it was the exam period, thus distractions come easily)
but also uber excited cos i found out karen o was helping with the sound track
& just in case you don't know
karen o is the lead singer of the yeah yeah yeahs
who are pretty much one of my absolute favourite bands
shes's awesome.

an i really like the fact that how in the yeah yeah yeahs
she's like this:

but for the movie:
she's like this

the soundtrack is her singing with a choir of kids
and they're called 'karen o and the kids'
haha
(i think i am very likely to buy the soundtrack as well)

EXCITED! :)

.

i can listen to my PK lectures at 'fast playback' on windows media player
and it still makes sense!

(not my idea though, totally vicky's idea. haha)

train courtesy.

i have a test in about four hours
and i feel like i don't know anything
:(

anyhow, i've been meaning to talk about this for a VERY long time
and its about the recently (sort of) renovated female toilets in melb central
the one next to maccas inside the station
they basically redesigned it but its pretty much worse than it was before
i mean yes, it looks better
but the design was definitely not thought out very well
because
1) these new toilets have no toilet seats
so you end up sitting on cold metal (cos the new toilet bowls are metal)
quite uncomfortable.
2) the doors are too large/the cubicle space is too small
its so hard to close the door
you literally have to pretty much stand over the toilet to be able to close the door
its SO poorly designed.
why couldn't they just make the toilets like the ones up stairs?
or at least put toilet seats on them.
sigh.

the second thing i wanted to say was
so lately the sydenham train has ben undergoing construction and things
so late and night the train always ends at footscray
and there are connecting buses
meaning EVERYONE has to get off at footscray
what bugs me is
when everyone is getting off the train
WHY on earth do they PUSH?
seriously
its so unnecessary
like the connecting buses are obviously going to wait
so you don't have to rush
and i don't know
i just get so annoyed.

also people getting on the train/tram/bus before others can get off
that's so rude as well.

signing off.

toodles.

owl city.

i currently really love a band called owl city
and their song fireflies
its so cute.

music vid: here

and this song really reminds me of hellogoodbye.
(& one of my fav love songs of all time, hellogoodbye - here (in your arms) i love love love it.& the clip for this is quite funny here)
but i think all their other ones are kinda like the fray.
i take that back, most of their songs song like hellogoodbye.

(yeah sorry. i haven't done a music blog in agessssssss. i shall get onto it soon)

pickpocketting heaven.

so the TripAdviser (but i read it on the Age traveller) has come out with a list of the top 10 cities to get pickpocketed
and here they are:

1. Las Ramblas, Barcelona, Spain
2. Rome, Italy
3. Prague, Czech Republic
4. Madrid, Spain
5. Paris, France
6. Florence, Italy
7. Buenos Aires, Argentina
8. Amsterdam, Netherlands
9. Athens, Greece
10. Hanoi, Vietnam

but for me i find this a bit peculiar, when i clicked into the article i totally thought the top places would be in china or like india, where the population density is so great
and if it weren't for no. 10
i would have totally believed that it was just a list about the places in europe
but then, another thing could be that
since places like china or india, the population density is so great
and that theres a lot of desperate people
that travellers would take extra precautions
like wearing fanny packs (haha) in china
whereas in europe you'd be more laid back
because you don't think you'd get robbed.
and also i guess the list was cities
so there was probably no one particular city you'd get robbed at in china/india
i don't know
i do find it peculiar that its all european cities pretty much.

anyhow

toodles!

bubble.

wind kept
Originally uploaded by nirrimi

i really love this.
but i'm trying to figure out how they took the photo
like where did she jump off?
but i really like the wind in the hair as well
and the background is peaceful.

i always get fat during exams
cos i eat when i'm not studying
sucks.
and its not like snacks and stuff
its excessive eating
like whole blocks of chocolate
i feel like such a pig
but i can't resist when chocolate is on sale at the supermarket
haha.

so lately, i feel like i'm living in my own little bubble
like i'm constantly by myself
and the thing is i don't mind being by myself
like i'd rather that than trying to make conversation with someone else
its quite bad
but sometimes i just can't be bothered making the effort.
and i do really think i'm in my own bubble
i admit i do talk to myself
obviously not out loud
but i mean as an only child, it shouldn't be surprising
i'm always playing my own songs in my head
& singing in my head
while i'm walking on the streets
or making my own little observations in my head about my surroundings.
yes.

also.
i have another issue
i agree that when people meet me that i'm quiet
but people also think i'm shy
but the thing is i really don't think i'm shy
i'm just kept to myself.
there's a difference
if i wanted to talk, i would.
but i don't, because i don't want to
not because i'm scared of what others would think.
i just much prefer listening to others
(i do think i'm a very good listener)
hmm.

happy noon.

good morning

...or is it?

so today i was at work
and i had an errand to officeworks
just to but supplies and stuff

side note:
i do go on errands often, usually to:
1) to get my boss coffee
2) to post things
3) to go to other pharmacies
4) to go random bargain shopping for something in the shop (it happens more often than you think)
i used to go on errands way more often when the other pharmacist was there
she'd get me to buy her lunch everyday
often to a restaurant to buy her vegie dumplings or coles to buy salad
and i also used to go to the bank quite a lot too
(but that's cos i worked pretty much full time during the summer hols)
:)

ok
back to my story
so i was walking to officeworks
and this passerby goes "good morning"
and i just said hi
as normal as it seems
the thing is
it was around 3 PM
it wasn't really an ambigious time
like 12 PM
i feel strange saying good afternoon when its like 12pm or 1pm
its not afternoon but not morning either
but its also strange to say "good noon." or "happy noon."
so yes.
i found it amusing when the man said "good morning"
but i just pretended i didn't notice anything
and didn't look at him strange or anything
haha

also another thing
another place which has crappy service
(adding to the subway on chapel)
is the officeworks
its kinda like subway
they're like 20 somethings just hanging around each other just chatting
so you feel awkward to ask for help
and also when you get help they take so long to find stuff for you
meh.
its not as bad as the subway though
but yet i'm forced to go there
most weeks
but the really slow guy doesn't work there anymore
or at least i haven't seen him
so it isn't that bad most of the time
but sometimes i do get those ones would seem to have a bit of an attitude and are slow
they're annoying.
