hi! i'm als & this is my blog.

i write about random things.
these days i write pretty sporatically.
sometimes i completely rave about something, like a tv show but sometimes i write pretty serious things.
i write in short phrases, i like the freedom of not having to write in proper punctuation and grammar.
i'm a christian. i also ♥ music, art, photography, movies, tv & books.

hope you enjoy ♥

summer, come already

i wish exams will be done with already
i'm so excited for the summer
mission & NTE will be awesome :)
plus roadtrip with meine lieblings
and then ASIA!
the only thing that would make it even more fantastically exciting
would be if i'm going to a summer music festival
which i'm not
because lineups are ok, but nothing i'm really excited about
plus i was mostly hedging my bets on laneway fest
i really do like the antlers and all
and some of the others
but not enough
plus noone wanted to come with me anyway.
i think i'd go if ladyhawke would be playing melb laneway
but apparently she's only playing NZ laneway.
sigh.
BUT aside from that i'm hoping the bands do side shows
so i can go to them instead.
can't wait :)

#260

far out
i think i'm sick again.
i woke up with a sore throat and congested
and i just feel so tired and run down today
dammit.

in other news, i did my bible study
finalllllly.
the turn out was small
so i had to give the answers more often then i'd like
but overall, it was ok.
i really like the way it was written
which was mainly written by heather
i just put it on paper.
yes.

#227 detangle my tangles!

on friday, i did end up buying the freelance whales album
photo of them above
(i quite like the photo, its cute.)
i was pretty excited when i saw it on the shelf
i may have possibly have gone 'yesssssss!' aloud
when i was behind someone
the guy moved slightly.
he probably thought i was weird
or something.
:)

also, because my hair gets really knotty
really often
i also had to buy a johnsons kids strawberry sensation no more tangles spray
funny how there aren't any detangling sprays for adults.
but oh well,
i like smelling like strawberries.

this whole week Don Carson will be speaking at Storey Hall (the green RMIT building, across from melbourne central)
so if you ever had ANY questions at all about christianity
please come :)
i'll be going all the nights
except thursday.

i'll just copy what it says on the CU website

Many people have questions about Christianity, life and faith and how it all fits together.

NOW…..during RMIT week 6…. there is a great opportunity to spend a night or 2….or 5, thinking through these issues.
Don Carson, an internationally renowned speaker, and author on all things Christian, is flying into Melbourne and is booked at RMIT’s very own Storey Hall for 5 nights of epic talks, slick music and decent dramatic performances.

Each night is different so come to one…..or come to all…AND bring your friends.

• Monday 23 August ~ How can we see God?
• Tuesday 24 August ~ How can we start over again?
• Wednesday25 August ~ How can God Have a Son?
• Thursday 26 August ~ How to get the best Bread in the World.
• Friday 27 August ~ How can I believe Jesus rose from the dead!

Whether you are just curious, or seriously sceptical, then this event is for you….AND ITS FREE!

23 – 27 August
Time: 7.00pm – 9.00 each night
Location: Storey Hall, 342 Swanston St, Melbourne

give me a buzz if any of you want to go ♥

#225 hi!

(i look really asian in this photo. i think the guitar in the back saves me just that little though :) p.s. i'm holding my fringe down, if you're wondering)

actually, i've had a pretty shittay week
with the stupid assignment and all
and i stayed at home all week
except on wednesday
but even on wednesday i went home early for dinner
and i don't know
i think i've been in a very depressive mood this week
especially after that first draft for my research report
it was complete shit what i wrote, i tell you
i was in tears last night.
seriously.
it was that shit.
i'm just hoping they'll at least pass me, so that i can pass this hurdle
i'm pretty sure they will, because then like there's no point it me doing the final report if i won't pass because of this stupid draft.
but at least now i can fix the super massive holes and pretty much anything that didn't make sense in it. which is most of it.
though i should work on it, so i can show something more decent to my supervisor next week.
but i think it would be easier now
because the problem with me is that starting of reports and writing
i alsway know what to start.
becasue now i have 1000 words to work with
or at least 500 words that could be useful, and it probably wouldn't be so hard.
hopefully.

i was pretty depressed this morning as well,
(or should i say midday/afternoon)
because i was alone most of the time.
though today i got much better at FAT (friday afternoon training)
and going to CU and to prayer night
i feel much better now.

on another note, i voted already today.
because i have work tmr.

jam packed #192

i do wonder about that term 'jam packed'
because well, is jam really 'packed'
i'd like to think of it as a jar being filled with jam

but anyway,
had two full days in a row.

so yesterday, i had work from 11 til 6
at 6, i had to get changed and do my makeup in the centre bathroom
then took the bus to crown
we ate at sante for thanh's 21st.
i stayed there til about 10
got home at around 10.30
completely knackered
but ended up sleeping at 12.

then this morning, i had to get up at 7.30 for work at 9
worked til 5
then jacky picked me up from work
and we went to the city to get picked up by oli
to go to trivia night
trivia night finished at around 11.30
go home at 12ish.

yes, twas very tiring but fun.
another thing i probably need to add is that
i have been sick for 2 weeks straight
and from yesterday, my symptoms started becoming nasal
ie. runny nose and allergies
so i constant had a red nose
(not such a great look)
and feeling very run down already.
so the days felt extra hectic to me.

but yes. CU trivia night was quite fun
leila, daniela, minh tu & i spent quite a while
staring at paper
trying to solve the puzzles on it.
and thus, being antisocial.
but it was rather fun, especially when we figured out some of those puzzles
and the food was pretty awesome
thanks to eleni.
:)

yes,
fun days.

#177 i'm back

so after two camps, being away 8 days back-to-back
well, i'm back.

so obviously i need to update.
so i'm thinking
i will update backwards,
ie. i will talk about what i did on those particular days

so, today was the last day of summit (RMIT CU camp)

so it involved:
- waking up and having to pack up stuff
- going to the last talk
- and manuscript discovery
where we pulled everything together, and answered all the remaining questions we had from 1 john
- and then taking some photos
- and leaving

here's a pic of everyone in the camp (though it was taken on the wednesday)

#176 last full day of summit

involved:
- finishing the last of steve william's talks
- another 1 john talk
- more manuscript discovery
- a workshop about science and christianity with john diacos
- a night walk
which i did not go to because i started to feel sick, but i kind of wished i did because they saw SNOW! :( sigh.
- staying up til 4.30 am because it was the last night
and this involved playing multiple games of angels and assassins
which was really frustrating
because the game involves getting people to trust you
and though i was telling the truth (most of the time)
the times when i was telling the truth people didn't believe me
and it was really annoying.
but the games were really funny,
i think we ended up playing about 7 games
LOL.

also, played up and down the river
which i came second and beat steve williams
(which if you do not know, beating him is an achievement)
:)

#175 superheroes vs. supervillains

the third day of summit involved:
- more talks
- manuscript discovery
- a heroes vs villains themed night
pretty much everyone dressed up and looked awesome

i dressed up as violet from the incredibles
and got best dressed :)
though it was funny because when they announced it, i was in the bathroom
and when i came out someone was like
'you won something'
and i was like 'what?'
:)
also, i enjoyed the activities
which involved building a human pyramid
and my team had the fastest record
of building the pyramid in 1.4 seconds

and also, drinking water with a bit of detergent in it (we thought it was shampoo at the time)
because the boys wanted to
just so we could beat the other team
(it was completely disgusting, btw)

- last activity for the night was campfire
and i made awesome damper
(leila can vouch for that :)

- after campfire,
we played a game of up and down the river.
and more poker :D

#174 day two

involved:
- the first of steve denness' talks
- another talk from steve williams
- manuscript discovery
- a workshop about quiet time with God
- going into town to the cafe (and taking many photos of baby josh) and to buy some things, i ended up buying a cool scarf from the op shop :)

- and at night, playing POKER
which i won one of the games :D

#173 SUMMIT

- woke up at around 8.30 to get ready and got picked up at 9 to go to summit :)
- we got there at around 10.30 which was pretty early

check out the view :)

the days activities included:
- settling in
- ice breakers, which were pretty fun
we played charades and pictionary, and tower building games, and scavenger hunt, and others
it was funny because one of the words we had to act out was 'antique roadshow'
which took us ages to guess
and having to draw 'openminded'
:)
- our first manuscript discovery group with heather reid, where we read the whole of 1 john without stopping 3 times to analyse it and extract things from it. i found it quite enjoyable and it was a great way to learn from the bible.
- our first talk from steve williams about the love of God
(and this is a photo of jacky doing a book review)

- and being good kids and sleeping pretty early at 12am
though its the way it always is
sleep early the first night
and sleep progressively later and later the other nights

:D

clash

i hate it when:
things you really really wanted to go to
and was looking forward to since the beginning of the year
end up clashing
grr!
the cu ball is on the same night as the pharm ball
boo!
i guess i will go to the pharm ball
but its also so much more expensive
i dunno
?

i've been drinking A LOT of green tea lately
is i really that good for you
cos i'm not sure
though i guess so
cos its in one of the multi vitamins that we sell at the pharmacy
but i don't really feel any different
hmm

oh and one last thing
i really really really dislike the brand GUESS
especially the last two advertising campaigns
what's with the MASSIVE wonderbra pushed up to the neck boobs
and supertight tops
and midriff
and what is with the love heart on the boob
like seriously
in BOTH the ads
its definitely not appealing to girls
i don't think
but then i never really liked guess
ever since they had paris hilton as their face for a while
hmph.

ok night

toodles!
