hi! i'm als & this is my blog.

i write about random things.
these days i write pretty sporatically.
sometimes i completely rave about something, like a tv show but sometimes i write pretty serious things.
i write in short phrases, i like the freedom of not having to write in proper punctuation and grammar.
i'm a christian. i also ♥ music, art, photography, movies, tv & books.

hope you enjoy ♥

#233 perks of the job

i love free stuff
:)
so today i got my free stuff from natio
because i did their online training
and i got quite a lot of stuff
i got a full size 'intensive moisturising day cream'
full size 'skin brightening face balm'
full size 'gentle face scrub'
sample size 'daily protection moisturiser'
an eye shadow sparkle dust' palette
a 'maximum curl waterproof mascara'
an 'ultra shiny fruit gloss' in passionfruit
and of course, a certificate.

amongst other things
this is one of may favourite things about this job
free stuff!
:)

also, went to jono's 21st tonight at theapartment
it was ok, i enjoyed it
though most of my friends left pretty early
and i'm not a fan of making friends with people who already have groups
at least i enjoy my own company though.
but vick was totally chatted up by some guy on the d floor
which i thought was pretty funny.
i also really liked the cupcakes (left)
they looked good being lit up like that
:)
though i think i was holding everyone up trying to take multiple photos of it.
haha.

workstuffs #199

so a lot of you know
i always work on saturdays
(pretty much always)
and i used to do the 10-6 shift
but now my boss has wanted me to do the 9-5 shift
because it gets pretty dark at 6 and stuff

but the weird thing is that
though i'm working the same amount of hours
as when i'm working 10-6
9 til 5 goes so much quicker
which i definitely love.
i think because after i get back from lunch
its usually around 2
and i only have 3 hours left
and i have already been at work for 5 hours.
yes, i quite like this shift much better.

loading zone #185

a weird thing that customers do at our pharmacy
is
treat our pharmacy as a loading zone
and by that i mean
they come in and ask if we can mind their shopping
and leave so they can pick it up later
half the time they don't even buy stuff from us
they're just using us
i don't know.
why is that?
because i'm pretty sure people don't do it as often to other places
(ie. non pharmacies)
i find it really odd.

today,
some lady
which i've never seen before/has never come into our shop before
came to drop off 4 bottles of wine
to pick up later
though she kept insisting that it wasn't hers
and it was for a fundraiser.
and my boss saw the bottles
and joked that i was going to drink it all later
because i was sick of work and uni.
haha.
she did end up picking it up
and thanked me
and left.

some people are so odd.

language barrier #137

so yesterday at work
there was this old lady who came in
and she was chinese
but she spoke another dialect that i don't speak
so here's me
trying to speak to her in broken mandarin
(if you have heard me speak, i really do suck. but i can sort of understand)
trying to figure out what she wanted
and i kept saying that i didn't understand what she said
but she kept going and going
even though she knew i didn't understand
it took me nearly an hour to finally fix everything up for her
and i was so frustrated.
sigh.
at least we figured it out at the end.
yeah,

also, i dislike when i get customers who speak mandarin
cos i'm not that good at it
especially if they ask me about things like fish oil tabs or something
but i'm ok, if they're just getting repeats
and the customer usually doesn't even really know i have shit mandarin.

there's also this old man that makes fun of my cantonese and mandarin
and he calls me 'heart'
cos thats what my chinese name sort of is
but i find him funny.
:)
he's seen jacky before
and he keeps telling me that jacky should be a boxer,
cos he's so big.
lol.

free at 100? #6

so theres this old man that comes into our pharmacy
who's 99
apparently if he lives to 100
everything is free for him
i'm not sure what it means by everything
but he said rent
and i assume medications as well
but 100
thats so
wow.
and he looks ok still
his hearing isn't very good
but otherwise he seems
relatively healthy and well

anyhow, there's this website i like
www.loldwell.com
i really like the archives
they're quite funny
:)

happy noon.

good morning

...or is it?

so today i was at work
and i had an errand to officeworks
just to but supplies and stuff

side note:
i do go on errands often, usually to:
1) to get my boss coffee
2) to post things
3) to go to other pharmacies
4) to go random bargain shopping for something in the shop (it happens more often than you think)
i used to go on errands way more often when the other pharmacist was there
she'd get me to buy her lunch everyday
often to a restaurant to buy her vegie dumplings or coles to buy salad
and i also used to go to the bank quite a lot too
(but that's cos i worked pretty much full time during the summer hols)
:)

ok
back to my story
so i was walking to officeworks
and this passerby goes "good morning"
and i just said hi
as normal as it seems
the thing is
it was around 3 PM
it wasn't really an ambigious time
like 12 PM
i feel strange saying good afternoon when its like 12pm or 1pm
its not afternoon but not morning either
but its also strange to say "good noon." or "happy noon."
so yes.
i found it amusing when the man said "good morning"
but i just pretended i didn't notice anything
and didn't look at him strange or anything
haha

also another thing
another place which has crappy service
(adding to the subway on chapel)
is the officeworks
its kinda like subway
they're like 20 somethings just hanging around each other just chatting
so you feel awkward to ask for help
and also when you get help they take so long to find stuff for you
meh.
its not as bad as the subway though
but yet i'm forced to go there
most weeks
but the really slow guy doesn't work there anymore
or at least i haven't seen him
so it isn't that bad most of the time
but sometimes i do get those ones would seem to have a bit of an attitude and are slow
they're annoying.

adi
ós!

artsy fartsy.

ok, back to normal post.
i do sometimes think that my mind is more art than like science/fact
like all the stuff that i really love
are a form of art
(as in music, photography, etc.)
i really do wish that i wasn't born into an asian/pushy family
cos i know that if i weren't
i'd be doing some form of arts
instead of pharm

like i'm seriously considering
if i fail another subject
to just take a year off next year
and just do my failed subjects
and study a course on photography
but then my dilema is that fact that
next year is our first placement year
and i want to go to placement with my friends
cos it will be fun.
maybe.

secondly,
quite glad today.
i seriously thought that i wouldn't get my scholarship anymore
cos i failed a subject
and since the payment had still not come yet
so i just assumed that they weren't paying it to me
but monash sent me an email saying it will be there by the end of the week
yay.

i currently have a mud mask on
and its seriously working
i can feel my facial muscles tightening by the second.
i think its a good thing
but i'm not sure
lol
:)

ok,

adiós!

cat allergies.

sorry, i keep changing my layout.
they're always something about it i don't like.
i think i might be slightly obsessive compulsive.
seriously.
see, i like this one.
but i still don't like it.
its kinda random
but cute.
hmm.

i hate being sick.
:(
actually today has been a bad day
i mean it wasn't that bad.
but bad in the sense that bad things happened.
but yet my mood wasn't that bad.
i was ok-cheery today.
:)
so at work, the computer/til was broken down
so i have to write EVERY sale down
including prescriptions
onto a piece of paper
then manually
using a dodgy calculator
calculate the totals and things
it was very annoying.
plus the fact
i just kept feeling worse and worse during work
i just felt more and more feverish.
i felt quite bad just before
so i went to the fridge and found like a 2 year expired demazin
and took that plus panadol
and luckily it still works.
i feel much better now.
no more blocked nose.
yay.
i feel more alert now, than any other time during today.

oh yeah.
these guys came in today and asked for antihistamines
and being an assistant, i asked who it was for
and they said no one in particular
so i was like "ok..?"
and then they explained that the wanted to keep it on hold
in case people get allergic to their cat.
:)

shall sleep now.

(sorry, i'm quite boring lately)

clash

i hate it when:
things you really really wanted to go to
and was looking forward to since the beginning of the year
end up clashing
grr!
the cu ball is on the same night as the pharm ball
boo!
i guess i will go to the pharm ball
but its also so much more expensive
i dunno
?

i've been drinking A LOT of green tea lately
is i really that good for you
cos i'm not sure
though i guess so
cos its in one of the multi vitamins that we sell at the pharmacy
but i don't really feel any different
hmm

oh and one last thing
i really really really dislike the brand GUESS
especially the last two advertising campaigns
what's with the MASSIVE wonderbra pushed up to the neck boobs
and supertight tops
and midriff
and what is with the love heart on the boob
like seriously
in BOTH the ads
its definitely not appealing to girls
i don't think
but then i never really liked guess
ever since they had paris hilton as their face for a while
hmph.

ok night

toodles!

the logic test.

so screwed for my exam tmr,
it's apparenly one of those
if you hav logic, you'll pass
but i think thats complete bs
cos i'm pretty sure i hae logic but i know nothing.
but i can't be bothered studying cos i'm just reading a whole bunch of stuff like
"most people are naive about medication"
and
"patients hav stories to tell"
and i also need to learn a whole bunch of abbreviations like:
GCS - Glasgow Coma Sore
PEARL - Pupils Equal and Reactive to Light
sigh.

so over it.
:(

i really really really want to go shopping as well
but i have to wait til i finish exams
sucks.

ok.
be off now.

BYEBYE.

swine

last week was absolutely hilarious
everyone was so obsessed with the swine flu
we had people coming into the pharmacy buying face masks
not just ordinary ones
they were like 10 bucks each
and a guy ordered in like a box of 30 (thats 300 bucks worth of face masks)
insane, huh?
it was quite funny.

i'm currently a bit zonked out right now
if you know what i mean
i'm awake but not
i had way too long afternoon nap
so i'm not tired
but i'm too lethargic to do anything

i was meant to have a 6 hour prac today
but we did it really quick that it was only 3 and a half hours
and in between we went to play xbox for half an hour
so technically it was only 3 hours.
score.

"flow sweetly,
hang heavy,
you suddenly complete me,
you suddenly complete me."
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Hysteric

lots of love ♥

can you keep a secret?

i'm loving the whitest boy alive's new album Rules
i would add the song 'keep a secret' to my page
but im still yet to figure out how to do that

ok, so working in a pharmacy
i encounter some weird people
and by weird, i mean weird
yesterday, a lady came in and asked or Daktarin
(its an antifungal cream)
so i asked if she was using it for tinea
(cos thats what it is usually used for)
and she said, 'no i use it for eveything'
and basically explained that she used it for chaffing between her legs
which i thought fair enough
AND THEN
she said 'my doctor even said i can put some on my tampon and stick it inside me'
ew ew ew ew

alo, some people coming into the pharmacy really shit me
they think i know absolutely nothing
they'd come in and ask for the pharmacist,
only just to give in the scripts
or tey'd ask for the pharmacist
just to ask them about cold and flu meds
i mean, dude we're not just there to look pretty
that's the job that we're meant to do
oh and its even worse, when they talk condesendingly to you
like you don't know anything
when i get really annyed though
i'd be like "i've worked here for 6 months now, a lot of it full time"
or i'd be like "i'm actually studying phamacy"
stupid people

anyhow,
hope you guys spoil your mums today

toodles!
