un-likely

a singer/band/musician that i have been listening to lately
is Lykke Li
i presume it is pronounced 'likely'
i discovered her on my recommendations on last.fm
saying her similar artists were Ladyhawke & Whitest Boy Alive
but, no
not really.
she's alright though.
i can sort of see where the are coming from with ladyhawke
but unlike ladyhawke the beats she uses aren't like 'doof doof'
or in other words hard hitting electronically generated beats
i mean she has them, but they aren't hard hitting
& she uses more exotic instruments
i think
her song Little Bit and Dance Dance Dance has a slight Jamaican feel about it
though it is slight
and shes a lot softer, in terms of singing
her singing reminds me of this French singer, Soko
sort of.

another singer, which seems to have a lot of hype around her
she's more similar to ladyhawke
is Little Boots
but for me, she's a little undewhelming
she doesn't live up to the hype
the songs that i have heard from her are quite unoriginal
like they've been before
though i'll give her credit for being an awesome DJ

& one last thing
i really love all the covers done by the Kooks
maybe just because i really like the Kooks
but yes.
i've heard them cover Crazy - Gnarls Barkley
Violent Hill - Coldplay
& also Kids -MGMT
and i really like the covers

so yes.
what i'm loving & not loving
at the moment.
