hi! i'm als & this is my blog.

i write about random things.
these days i write pretty sporatically.
sometimes i completely rave about something, like a tv show but sometimes i write pretty serious things.
i write in short phrases, i like the freedom of not having to write in proper punctuation and grammar.
i'm a christian. i also ♥ music, art, photography, movies, tv & books.

hope you enjoy ♥

#175 superheroes vs. supervillains

the third day of summit involved:
- more talks
- manuscript discovery
- a heroes vs villains themed night
pretty much everyone dressed up and looked awesome

i dressed up as violet from the incredibles
and got best dressed :)
though it was funny because when they announced it, i was in the bathroom
and when i came out someone was like
'you won something'
and i was like 'what?'
:)
also, i enjoyed the activities
which involved building a human pyramid
and my team had the fastest record
of building the pyramid in 1.4 seconds

and also, drinking water with a bit of detergent in it (we thought it was shampoo at the time)
because the boys wanted to
just so we could beat the other team
(it was completely disgusting, btw)

- last activity for the night was campfire
and i made awesome damper
(leila can vouch for that :)

- after campfire,
we played a game of up and down the river.
and more poker :D

#174 day two

involved:
- the first of steve denness' talks
- another talk from steve williams
- manuscript discovery
- a workshop about quiet time with God
- going into town to the cafe (and taking many photos of baby josh) and to buy some things, i ended up buying a cool scarf from the op shop :)

- and at night, playing POKER
which i won one of the games :D

#173 SUMMIT

- woke up at around 8.30 to get ready and got picked up at 9 to go to summit :)
- we got there at around 10.30 which was pretty early

check out the view :)

the days activities included:
- settling in
- ice breakers, which were pretty fun
we played charades and pictionary, and tower building games, and scavenger hunt, and others
it was funny because one of the words we had to act out was 'antique roadshow'
which took us ages to guess
and having to draw 'openminded'
:)
- our first manuscript discovery group with heather reid, where we read the whole of 1 john without stopping 3 times to analyse it and extract things from it. i found it quite enjoyable and it was a great way to learn from the bible.
- our first talk from steve williams about the love of God
(and this is a photo of jacky doing a book review)

- and being good kids and sleeping pretty early at 12am
though its the way it always is
sleep early the first night
and sleep progressively later and later the other nights

:D

#172

in the morning us kids
(kids, as in the english congregation)
all woke up late and missed the prayer meeting
since we stayed up til late the night before
playing cards and pictionary
and ended up eating 2 minute noodles for breakfast

then we had another talk and discussion
this time looking on God's blessings in the psalms

after that we had lunch
packed up
and left

when i got home
and i had to put all my dirty clothes in the wash
and then pack again for summit
and get my costume ready.

this is a pic of everyone in the camp
(though it was taken the day before)

#171 mcbc church camp

so we got to the campsite on friday night at around 10.30
and just chilled and played games

the bulk of the activities was on today:
we had talks and bible discussions
and went on the giant swing

and played on the trampoline

we also spent a considerable amount of time taking pictures of toddlers
by we, i mean me, emma and steph

and the night time,
i organised the trivia night/activities
and the taste testing round was by far my favourite round.
my favourite guess was pj
guessing it was berry yoghurt when it was clearly jam (blackberry jam at that)
and my second favourite guess was ronald
with apricot caramel syrup
when it was pureed apple baby food

#170

i shall be away for the next 8 days
because i have church camp for 3 days
and the RMIT CU summit for 5 days after that

anyway,
i find this Goldfrapp video clip absolutely hilarious
one of the most random clips ever
oh and watch the whole thing.
i watched it again the other day after showing it to vick

update: at 7.50 pm
i'm watching masterchef right now
and they're making char sui
but gary and george keep calling it char sue
its pretty funny.

#169 ranga pm

so we officially have a new pm today
the first australian female pm
but i also wonder how many redheads have become leaders of their country
i wonder
i think she may be one of the first few.

watching NZ vs Paraguay now
hope NZ win and get through.
they probably won't though.

#168 what?

so julia gillard is challenging kevin rudd for leadership.
is it me or it this pretty unexpected?
i was like, 'what?'
especially because at first they misreported and said he actually stood down.
so vote tmr
and we'll probably end up having a new prime minister.

but,
i quite liked k.rudd
i think i prefer him over julia actually
but i guess with the mining tax and all.
though does that mean the julia will scrap the mining tax
or keep it?
because if she keeps it
what difference will the leadership change do?

that is all.

#166 switched off

totally did not study for my last exam today
when i really should have
but i'm also having fun watching my fellow pharm people
stressing over micro
and that everyone hates helen as well.
though, i have to do it next year
which will not be fun
at all.

#165 damn ref !

gah, damnit.
a DRAW.
and
a harry kewell red card in the first half.
and
ghana had a red card-able offence and only got a yellow
and
wilkshire just had to beat the keeper and misses
and that was our best opportunity.
damnit.

sigh,
so NOW
in order for australia to go through
we have to beat serbia (obviously)
and then
ghana has to beat germany
which is HIGHLY unlikely.
especially because the two goals that ghana has scored in the to games
both came from penalties.
and the prospect of germany not going into the finals
is SUPER unlikely.

though i'm loving all those facebook groups made in response:

but on the bright side
at least we got that point
instead of zero points,
right? right? right?

no?

ok, then.

#164 croc alert!

so i was browsing through smosh.com today
(ie. massively procrastinating instead of studying for my last exam)
and i was reading the smosh pit posts
and i LOL'd at this one

here are my favs:

and i laughed so much at this one
not only is it a person in a wheelchair rolling down hill
but its a person in a wheelchair rolling down a hill INTO A CROCODILE!

(disclaimer: i'm not making fun of people in wheechairs, i'm making fun of the absurdity of this sign)

waiting to watch the soccer
hopefully, australia can play better today
or even just score a goal or draw
so at least we get one point.
instead of zero
is that too much to ask?
the answer beckons.

#163 decaffeinated

(yes, i'll fix up the other posts later)

unlike, a certain person named jiali,
and also vicki,
who both need to take caffeine tablets to study.
i'm so caffeine-sensitive
that i asked my mum to buy me a bottle of 'v'
cos i'm studying for my exam
tmr/today (in 7 hours)
and i'm had it from about 3pm
till now which is nearly 3am
and i've only have like 15mL of the 350 mL bottle
like you can't really tell i've drank from it
LOL.

though i didn't have the 15mL all at once
it was more like 1-2mL sips every 2 hours
around about
i guess maybe after dinner i felt quite awake
cos of the food
and carbs i've had
carbs=glucose=energy
= less tired?

yes
anyhow, goodnight/morning.

the pilates kid #162

i'm loving this karate kid parody

the little girl is SOOO cute!
also, someone pointed out in the comments
that she looks like Boo form Monsters Inc.
i agree,
but what do you think?

#161

i must again point out
I HATE YOU HELEN!
you and your stupid two wrong why qs.
also, the exam was clearly weighted on the topics you taught
where was all the information flow qs
there was only one.
in the whole exam,
and that was 6 lectures worth.
gah!
hopefully, my short answer pulled me through the exam.

i'm pretty sure i passed but still.
and i can't believe i have to endure her again next year if i do pass.

formula for a hit pop song #159

this is pretty hilarious.
my fav is the nick carter lookalike
with his dancing/hand actions
and "now i'm singing with my gay voice, to let you know i'm sensitive."
LOL.

yeah,
i did end up staying up last night/this morning
but i only watched til half time
because it was already 2-0
and it didn't look like we were going to win.
plus i was uber tired.

gah, its so bad
cos when i'm studying
i also just keep eating
and on top of that,
lack of physical activity.
hence, i'm getting fat.
and i don't like it.
:(

#157 lost&found

so i lost my phone today on the bus
and that made me quite stressed
like i kept calling it every 2 minutes
but i felt hopeful that someone didn't pick it up and take out the sim
because of the fact that it just kept ringing
as opposed to telling me that the phone was switched off.
so eventually someone picked up
and i was like "who is this?"
and i think the guy said "who is this?"
and then i said "i lost my phone."
and then the guy said "do you want your phone back?"
"yes."
(obviously)
at this point i thought it was picked up by some dodgy person
because he started saying
"would you pay me... a million dollars for it?"
"errrr.....no."
then the guy laughed and said
"yes, i'll give you your phone back, you left it on the bus."
and yes
so my mum went to pick it up at the bus depot for me :D
so in total,
i lost my phone and got it back within an hour.

i love it when things turn out good in the end.
:)

#156 SHAYTARDS

most of you guys don't really know this
but i watch A LOT of youtube
and i've subscribed to many channels
(with communitychannel being my fav channel cos she's australian :) )
but another channel i'm subscribed to
(apart from communitychannel and vlogbrothers)
and have been watching
pretty much every day
for about half a year is SHAYTARDS
which
if you don't know, is this guy Shay
vlogging about his daily life
with his wife, katilette (Mommytard),
kids: with alias names Babytard, Princesstard and Sontard
(although i do know their real names)
and other family members.
and yes,
his kids are so cute :)
especially babytard now cos she talks
and she says the cutest things
and she does the cutest things :)
and sontard is so cute
because he's going though a phase when he wants to be cool
and he breaks into dance all the time
and princesstard, looks so much her mum
but is crazy like her dad.
so anyway,
(well not that you really care, but i do)
the reason i'm talking about this is
katilette just had another baby!
and he's so cute :)

watch below:
(if you just want to watch the new baby, then watch from 12 mins)

i love the bit when the kids first meet him
and they're like "i like him"
and babytard when she's like "he's so cute"
and saying how he has small ears.
cute :)

naw, i love SHAYTARDS
can't wait to watch the baby get bigger.
:)

#154

now remembering
doses like:
100mg every 4-6 hours
is ok.
even
250-500mg initially, then 250mg every 6-8 hours
is alright.
but remembering the dose of
Bismuth 107.7mg
is it me or is that just way too exact
could you not just have 100mg?
seriously?

also, i had to add a cache box
for comments
cos i started to get spam
telling me to buy cheap meds
you know the ones.
so yes.

exam tmr!
boo!

i swear theres like 20 conditions i need to learn
and then there's at least 5 treatments for each.
and the treatments i need to learn their mechanisms
and how to use them
and their dose
and their side effects
etc. etc.
and this is just for one subject.
GAH!

#152 nerdy nerd nerd.

from loldwell.com

in other nerd news
been watching the vlogbrothers
a lot lately
ie. i've been having mini marathons
watching their old daily blogs to each other
i enjoy the fact that they're nerds
and talk about books, and politics and science and maths
as opposed to pop culture.
woot,
DFTBA!
:D

oh, jiali
you've made my day.
showing me the vid of a certain singaporean
HAHAHA.

it's going to be a night of intense studying tonight
cos i want to stay up tonight
and study heaps
instead of staying up on wedensday night
stressing
and studying
before my exam on thursday
gives me more time you know.

also,
i don't like whoring myself out
or anything
but if any of you who regularly read this
and have a blogger account or a google account
please follow this blog.

TOO MUCH #150

so today when i got to get the bus for work
as usual
there was this guy at the bus stop with
TOO MUCH COLOGNE ON
i mean it in the way that well
the morning around 8am these days is absolutely freezing
and because of the lack of heat
smell would be less prominent
as in because your body is colder and so the smell would spread as far
and as quickly
and also the air is cold
so it also wouldn't spread as fast or far
but this guy had SO much on that i could smell it
even though i way about a metre and a half away from him
then when i got on the bus
i proceeded to head to the back row
and he just HAD to follow me and sit on the other side of the back row
and the smell was so INTENSE
to the point i had to cover my mouth with my scarf
but i didn't move seats til we got to footscray
so that i wouldn't seem as rude
since many people vacate their seats at footscray
and i moved to the front half of the bus
in front of the glass
(actually though i think i did seem quite rude, cos my scarf was in my face. but it wasn't my fault i could barely breathe because of all the smell. and i felt nauseous)
yeah, so i was fine for most of the bus ride
but slowly i could start smelling it again
even though he was in the back
and i was in the middle separate by a barrier of glass (sort of)
and the annoying thing was
he stayed on the bus for pretty much as long as i did
(and thats like 40 minutes)
ugh.
it was gross.
