hi! i'm als & this is my blog.

i write about random things.
these days i write pretty sporatically.
sometimes i completely rave about something, like a tv show but sometimes i write pretty serious things.
i write in short phrases, i like the freedom of not having to write in proper punctuation and grammar.
i'm a christian. i also ♥ music, art, photography, movies, tv & books.

hope you enjoy ♥

funny thing happened today
so today me and jacky were pretty broke
cos he didn't get paid
and i haven't got paid yet either
and all we had was $4 in my eftpos
so we were just going to get two bacon cheeseburgers from maccas
but the whilst looking through my wallet
he found slash remembered that we had free mini chip vouchers from grill'd
and they expired today
so luckily he found them
so yes,
we got two mini chips to go with our cheeseburgers
we also almost got three of the chips
because i think the guy accidentally doubled ordered
but we were nice and told them
besides we probably wouldn't have finished all the chips anyway
so it would've been a waste.

i love it when things turn out so perfectly.

i find it a bit weird when the date is written 5/30/10
instead of 30/5/10
because i see it quite a lot
because i think americans write the date the first way
but i find it silly because wouldn't it make more sense if it is written
day/month/year
rather than month/day/year
i don't know.
i'm just saying.

#143 BHERG

so apparently thats my last name
i had to fill in this form for work
and faxed it along with the other names of the staff
and they sent us back stuff
and they labelled mine as
'Alison Bherg'
LOL.
yeah, i don't see how they managed to mistake the B for a Z
maybe, the other letter are forgivable
but seriously?
a B for a Z?

at least i got free stuff
so i don't mind too much

:D

#141 bucks

currently listening to my lectures
and this one lecturer keeps saying
380 million BUCKS
but it sounds so weird
i mean you can say
10 or 20 bucks or even 50 bucks
100 may even be pushing it
but billion is too big a number to associate with bucks
yes,
i prefer dollars instead.

ok, back to lectures now.

its so sad when:
you make a packet soup
and you wait til its cool enough to drink
but you wait a bit to long
AND THE CROUTONS ARE SOFT!

:(
heads up
might not be up to date these days

or the posts are a lot shorter.

but i'll be
stressed for tests and exams and things

so, please excuse me :)

promise, will update them all in due time.

i was thinking:
the lyric
from ronan keating's love ballad
"you say it best when you say nothing at all"
is the best way to tell someone to shut up.
or the nicest way.
haha.

phone in bra? #138

i find it really weird
but i've seen two people
(women obviously)
that have done it this week.
isn't it really unconfortable?
like i saw them both,
take the phone out
and then reach into the top to put it back it.
very odd.

speaking of odd places to put things.
i also saw a man carry a packet of chocolate biscuits in his jacket
i don't mean in his pocket
but his brown jacket was zipped up
and the biscuits were sticking out from inside
ie. the biscuits were next to his chest.
also very weird.
i also wonder, why he was carry a pack of biscuits
because he didn't have a bag
and he was travelling to the city
with biscuits.

strange, strange people.

language barrier #137

so yesterday at work
there was this old lady who came in
and she was chinese
but she spoke another dialect that i don't speak
so here's me
trying to speak to her in broken mandarin
(if you have heard me speak, i really do suck. but i can sort of understand)
trying to figure out what she wanted
and i kept saying that i didn't understand what she said
but she kept going and going
even though she knew i didn't understand
it took me nearly an hour to finally fix everything up for her
and i was so frustrated.
sigh.
at least we figured it out at the end.
yeah,

also, i dislike when i get customers who speak mandarin
cos i'm not that good at it
especially if they ask me about things like fish oil tabs or something
but i'm ok, if they're just getting repeats
and the customer usually doesn't even really know i have shit mandarin.

there's also this old man that makes fun of my cantonese and mandarin
and he calls me 'heart'
cos thats what my chinese name sort of is
but i find him funny.
:)
he's seen jacky before
and he keeps telling me that jacky should be a boxer,
cos he's so big.
lol.

#136 DOMINOES

sorrryyyyyyyyyyyyy
i haven't posted in so long.
just been so busy and everything.
i will finish catching up on all the days
by tonight.
promise.

so tonight, i had to go to my uncles house
for his birthday
and i taught my cousin how to cheat.
haha.
no,
i mean i taught her how to play the card game cheat.
and emma was there.
even though it was a family thing.
gatecrasher.
haha, i kid.
it was so cute that vincent (my cousin, 7yo)
seemed so happy cos titus (emma's bro, 12yo)
was there
and they were running around playing all boy things
and shooting foam darts and stuff
whenever i come over these days vincent and sarah
just play their ds
haha
i'm not exciting to them anymore.
though i used to be.
sigh.

also, played dominoes with the adults
and emma's mum kept winning
like 90% of the time
lol.
but at least i did win once.
:)

also,
mum kept going about how
making the masterchef cake wasn't worth it
and it cost almost as much as buying a cake
but i beg to differ
since i only used like a bit of everything
and didnt spend that much
but i guess she meant cost
as in effort as well
but there's lots of ingredients left
and i found it fun.
and i was my first time baking a cake
so i was pretty successful for my first attempt.

CAKE #135

i made a cake today
it looked like this:

pretty successful,
it had a vanilla mascopone cream layer
with semi candied cherries
and a layer of
well it said
'chocolate hazelnut praline mousse'
but it was hardly a mousse
more like a thick chocolate fudge
and tasted a bit like nutella
with praline covered hazelnuts.
the let down was the cake it self though
but i guess
it was the first cake i've ever baked
especially from scratch
and well
at least it was edible
though very dry
but i did manage to moisten it a little
by spreading the cherry syrup over it
&
i will get better at it
eventually
:)

also,
twas sonja's 21st party
had jap food which was yum
& i got so full!
but i missed out on cupcakes from the party.
:(
boo!

sideways is uncool #133

so i saw this guy on the bus
this about early 30s
possibly late 20s
asian guy
wearing all fake stuff
(ie. the back of his jacky had a big 'VOGUE' writing on it)
yeah well,
he was wearing his cap sideways.
(like not slightly sideways, pretty much at 90 degrees)
i was thinking,
'what are you like 12?'
to think that's cool
and too top it off the cap had a kangaroo on it
lol.

that's lame.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY !! #131

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKY!
i love you :)

you're so OLD!
old
old
old

:D

---------------------------------------------

so today, i feel like i've achieved a lot
even though i really have only achieved a little
well, i did finish an assignment from 9 am to 12 pm
even though i was supposed to do it last night
but decided to take a nap at 2am
and woke up at 6am
so proceeded to sleep to 8.30am
THEN woke at 9am to do my assignment.
luckily for me, it was a relatively easy assignment.
one bit was to pretty much write a resume.
so yes.

i also did a presentation/group assignment thing today.
but that was relatively ok.
but i was only worth 2% of my final mark anyway.

yeah, so i managed to do two assessment tasks today.
but i feel like i didn't do much
because i didn't really put much effort into either of them.
lol.

taking jacky out for dinner tmr
can't wait to go eat dessert
;)

p.s. whoever posted on post #129 surprise, thanks. but it was posted as anonymous, so i don't know who are.

#130

i can't wait for exams to be over & done with
can't wait to go on church camp & summit
straight after exams.

i feel a bit burnt out from uni already
i haven't really touched any work for a week
and i'm completely clueless about what we're currently learning.
but this happens pretty much every semester.
meh.

SURPRISE! #129

after a week of organising
and stressing
making sure he had no way of finding out
and preping food
for jacky's surprise party
i would consider today to be a success
besides the fact that
when jacky was just coming
everyone was in panic mode and didn't know what to do
but that was pretty funny as well
:)

and there's just SOOO much food left over
like an insane amount
lol,
funny cos my mum kept telling me i might not have enough food and stuff
but i think thats an asian parent thing
and also,
there was A LOT of salad left over
i think about a fifth of it was actually eaten.
and NONE of the salad dressing bottles was used.
haha.
sigh.
i guess i'll be eating a lot of salad in the coming week.

falafel #128

so yesterday me and jacky went out for lunch
in footscray
and he had bun bo hue
and obviously with that came the vegetables
and there was these vegetables that looked like
alfalfa
now you knwo when you know what it is in your head
but can't quite put your name on it
well that happened
and i ended up saying
"that looks like falafel."

LOL.

#127

so today i was buying stuff
and the chick serving these ladies
well, she wasn't too into it
and wasn't super pleasant
but also, cos they had to split the receipts
and payments or whatever
and then one of the ladies was like
"i don't like your attitude"
and i was just thinking
well, i would get a bit annoyed at that
because i work in retail/customer service as well
and i sort of know what its like
if you work for many hours
obviously you get a bit tired and everything
and you become less into it
and especially when you get really annoying customers
you can't always be super cheerful.

also, the saying 'the customer is always right'
is so not true.
but we can leave that for today.

passion pit tickets on sale tmr!
:)
although the thing i hate about ticketmaster alerts
is that they only tell you about the concert
the day before the tickets are coming out
so theres a bit of a mad rush
for me
the day before the tickets are sold
finding someone to come with me.
usually anyway.

p.s. i made another blog, this one is about more christian stuff that i don't really add in here.
it won't be very theological like jacky's. more of a personal reflection type thing.

hoed #126

found out today that hoed is a word
apparently its the past tense of: to hoe
makes sense
but sounds kinda funny.
used the word today
to make a 49 point score on scrabble
:)

also, i might just say
revlon nail polish is really good
its been over 3 weeks and i've kept my nail polish on
and its in pretty decent condition
considering its been 3 weeks
it looks like how it would look with cheap nail polish
after about 4 or 5 days
i like
:)

age #124

i love this
its so adorable
(i got it off cindy's fb)
but the little girl is so feisty
and a little bit mean
but its still cute nonetheless
but it got me thinking
how much age mattered when you were little
because i remember it mattered a whole lot to me

once i remember, when i was 6
someone's mum said i was 5
and i was like "No! I'm 6!"
as if it really made a difference

but i guess, there is a huge difference between when you're 4 or when you're 6
even though its only two years
even between a 6 year old and an 8 year old
but now there's not a lot of difference really
for say a 20 year old and a 22 year old

also, like when i was young
i went to sunday school
and i remember there were these big kids
and i never used to play with them
because i was scared of them
because 1. they were all boys
2. they were old and big (compared to me anyway)
but the funny thing is that
well, i am friends with them now
and the age/size thing doesn't matter anymore
its a funny thing
about life really.

though
when i was in school
i enjoyed being one of the younger ones of the class
because of the month i was born in
i still enjoy being the 'young' one
even though i'm not really
:)

and if the edge of the window

so then you'll get a good contrast
with half real

but i like it, nonetheless.

yeah, i haven't blogged a photo in agesssssssss
mainly because i haven't gone onto my flickr account for just as long
because of the 'virus-on-my-computer-and-wiped-out-everything' incident
yeah, long story
but i wish i had more time
to go out and take photos.
i really want a polaroid camera
& a SLR camera
yes.

#121

i realised tonight that
i'm a bad person to drive home.
& i mean it in a way because
i give bad directions.
actually, not bad directions as such
like i know where i'm going
and i am good with directions
but
it stems from the fact that
i get scared that the person driving me will miss the street
or the house or whatever
and because of that i give the direction wayyyy before i should
and so as a reaction
the person, naturally slows down
and drives really slow til they get the the next street
which now takes a very long time to get to
since they slow down.
so yes.
i realise i do that
a lot.

also, quite enjoyed girls night tonight
:)

just so you know #120

my blog title is from a song
Mango tree by Angus & Julia Stone
in fact all my blog titles are from songs.

also,
the writing in the picture is from a song
Lack of Color by Death Cab for Cutie
so yes.

slow day.
not much to say.

i like this though:

haha.

avatar #119

finallyyyyyyyyyyy, watched avatar tonight
on blueray
it was alright
the effects were awesome
but like,
well i knew what was going to happen
so thats what made it a bit 'meh'

i also came up with a bit of a theory today
sort of relates to above
just so you know
me & emma went book shopping today
so this is how this theory came about.
well,
my theory is
those who like reading prefer better storylines and substance in movies
vs.
those who don't like reading as much like the effects, or don't care about the story line as much
this is generally
and its just a theory.
but it sort of makes sense.

also,
i realise.
i have a lot of theories.
:)

pigeons. risking their lives, day by day. (prose) #118

(technically, this is semi prose, so its true and i saw it today. but i'm writing it in a more dramatic way)

all is quiet,
not a soul in sight.
but there stands a small figure
upon an iron track.
innocently pecking,
finding its daily food.
all is well.
everything is safe.

alas!
here comes a train from a distance,
but the bird, senses no danger
continues to peck for its food.

the train comes closer still,
yet, no recognition from the bird,
not even a flinch.

closer and closer it comes.
still, it continually trots along the track naively.

even closer still, the train is almost there
oh no, dear bird;
please do move away.
oh no, dear bird;
please don't get hurt.
oh no, dear bird;
the train is much too close.

fear sinks into my heart,
as the train is about to collide with the bird.
but joy!
at the last second,
it flies away.
making a lucky escape,
to live another day.

the end.

panic attack #117

had a mini panic attack today
maybe even a full blown one
it was really weird
cos i hadn't really had one that bad before
i usually just get really anxious, or nervous
where my heart races
but its usually just over uni
or exams or whatever
(yeah, my mini breakdowns slash freak outs before exams are quite frequent. just ask jacky)
but this was different
this was like heart full on racing
feeling jittery
and it felt kinda difficult to breathe for a while
and even slightly nauseated
and it lasted like 20 minutes
but no,
it wasn't over uni stuff though
more important stuff.
but still, i have no idea why i had a panic attack over it.
because it wasn't like i was confronted with it or anything.
it was the strangest thing.

hmm.

i cheat. #116

whenever i have nothing to say
i cheat.
i post random videos i like
or
random cartoons
to fill space.

this.
is one of those days.

anyway, the first time i watched this.
this made me laugh so hard.
you've probably seen it already
it was all over youtube.
but its just the fact that
grown men, who are in the army,
so they're meant to be quite 'manly'
grown mean dancing around like lady gaga
makes me laugh.
though the beginning gets boring after a while.
but the best bit was the beyonce bit
where you see their costumes.
HAHA.

jogging bare #115

jogging shirtless when its nearly winter
ok?
or just being a douche?
i say douche
i think there's a special time and place to jog shirtless
that is,
during summer
only if it is really hot
or you're jogging next to the beach
i don't know
jogging just to show off your body seems like such a douche-y thing to do
to me
yeah, i saw someone do that today
and it was around 5 o'clock
meaning it wasn't even hot
but the guy was buff
so i assume he did it to show off
hmm.

BYE!
